Rechenzentrum Kunst- und Kreativhaus, event venue
In the Rechenzentrum more than 200 cultural and creative professionals from the fields of design, film, visual arts, performing arts, theatre, cultural education, software and integration are active on an area of over 5000 sqm. Today the variety of people working here and the usage of the rooms is as great as the colourful corridors are long. In addition to individual rooms, there are rooms for joint use.
The café and exhibition area on the ground floor opens its doors for vernissages, readings, music and movie nights, lectures and discussions. The “Cosmos” on the ground floor is a lunch room, lobby, after work lounge, project exchange and exhibition space all in one.
At the facade of the Rechenzentrum the mosaic "Man conquers the Cosmos" (1972) by the artist Fritz Eisel is one of the most famous works of art in the public sphere in Potsdam. The 18-part mosaic deals with the technical progress and the take off of the socialist societies into space.
